Preventing Offending

The Leeds YOS works with children, young people and their families to prevent and to challenge offending, encourage responsibility, develop victim empathy and reduce fear of crime within the community.

We work with 5 Youth inclusion programmes (YIPs) across the city engaging children as young as 8 years old diverting them from crime and anti-social behaviour.

Leeds YOS works with young people who offend for the first time on Final Warning programmes. We also supervise many of the orders which young people receive from court. For information on the types of orders and the role of the YOS please visit the Youth Justice Board website.

We continue to support young people to prevent re-offending through our Resettlement and Aftercare Project (RAP) and through Intensive Supervision and Surveillance Programme (ISSP).
